What is personal spiritual growth?
It is the process in which we, in personal obedience to God and not to people, work out our salvation with fear and trembling, because we know that it is God who is at work in us through His Spirit to will and to do according to His good purpose and for His glory. (Phil. 2:12-13; John 15:8; Eph. 3:14-19)
Why do we need to learn about personal spiritual growth?
a. So that we will not remain infants (Eph. 4:14-16)
b. So that our lives will have an impact on others (1 Tim. 4:15-16)
c. So that we can finish and win the race faithfully (2 Tim. 4:6-8)
d. So that we can glorify God by completing/fulfilling the work He wants us to do (John 17:4)
What must we learn about personal spiritual growth?
a. The starting point — personal salvation (Heb. 6:1-3)
b. The ending point (direction) — maturity in Christ (Phil. 3:12-4:1)
c. The process — godly habits (1 Tim. 4:6-8)
